Low-Poly Stegosaurus (internship work)

I was in charge of creating a fully animated dinosaur for Unity during my 2-month internship with AppBox Media. The page shows the creation process and softwares used, from concept art to final models and animations.

Concept art

I was told by the team that they wanted a cartoony style stegosaurus, and I provided alternative options for design. The team chose number 1 and the Zbrush stage began.

3d concept (Zbrush)

The 2D design was fleshed out quickly in Zbrush, where screenshots such as this were shared with the team with feedback. Only the main body was created in Zbrush, since the plates on its back can be easily made in Maya later.

Retopology in Maya & Texturing

I used quad draw in Maya to quickly reduce the polygon count for the model to be ready in game, keeping in mind of the correct topology for animation later.

The texture was done in Substance painter and cleaned up in Photoshop for detailed eyes. The texture size is 512x512)

Rigging & Animation in Maya

After the model was finished, I skinned and rigged the model, then went on to animate for export in Unity.
